Upcoming Programs at Sanibel Public Library

Sanibel Public Library has planned in-person programs including storytimes, tech help, and virtual author programs. The Library’s public online calendar has the most up-to-date information about programs for children and adults.

These upcoming Library programs are open to the public. No registration is required:

Family storytime

Join Ms. Shannon on Wednesday, May 15, 22, and 29 at 3 p.m. for a Crafternoon full of fun. A variety of craft supplies will be available along with examples of craft options to complete. Ms. Shannon will guide the program – Perfect for ages four and up.

Family Storytime will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 24 and 31. Storytime is for children age five and under and their caregiver. Head to the Library’s online calendar to see the full month’s schedule for Family Storytime.

Children ages 4-10 are welcome to join Ms. Robin (yoga instructor) for a session of Strengthen & Stretch at the Library on Saturday, May 18 at 9:30 a.m. This program combines energetic movements, playful stretches, and calming breathwork to help you feel strong, flexible, and focused.

Perfect for families – Saturday Crafterday – hosted by Melissa Gindling, a professional artist and coloring book creator, will start at 11 a.m. on May 18. Participants will create a sea turtle craft that they can take home with them.

Teens and Tweens are invited to an Escape Room event on Thursday, May 23 at 5:30 p.m. Bring a friend or two for this snack-filled Ancient Egyptian journey to the tomb of the ancient Pharaoh Tutankhamun.

The Library will be closed on Monday, May 27 in observance of Memorial Day.

All are invited to join us for the “Adventure begins at you Library” Summer Reading Kickoff Party on Saturday, June 1 at 10 a.m. The party includes games, snacks, raffles, and surprise guests. You will be able to sign up for summer reading to earn books for Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida. If you can’t make the party, you can still sign-up to log reading on Beanstack at the Library and on the library’s website..

Upcoming Virtual Author Talks include: “Asian American Representation in Literature” with Rebecca F. Kuang on Tuesday, May 21 at 7 p.m. Head to the Library’s online calendar for links to register for these virtual talks. After you register, you will receive an emailed link to login to the virtual event. If you need help registering for these webinars, email islandlibrary@sanlib.org or call (239) 472-2483.

Sanibel Public Library offers “Computer Coach” services; book an appointment to bring in your device for technology assistance with Hoopla, Kanopy, Libby, and other Library apps. These apps allow Library cardholders to download eBooks, magazines, and audiobooks, or stream music and movies. Call the Library at (239) 472-2483 to schedule an appointment.

Sanibel Public Library cards are available to all residents of Sanibel and Lee County, at no charge. You must present your valid driver’s license (or similar government ID) to staff, showing your current Lee County address. Visitor cards are available for a $10 fee and are good for one year. Computers, printers, scanners, and fax service as well as magazines and daily newspapers are also available. Summer Hours go into effect June 1 and last through Aug. 31. The Library will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
