Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva Seeks Scholarship Applicants

provided to The Santiva Chronicle

The Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva seeks an outstanding high school student in the Lee County School District for its annual Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) college scholarship.

“Public Affairs” refers to all aspects of community life where decisions must be made about issues which affect those communities in which people work and live. The award, offering a $1,500 scholarship, will recognize a young woman, aged 16 to 19 as of April 1, 2022, who demonstrates superior leadership skills and a commitment to public service and civic causes.

This award, created by Zonta International, also encourages young women to continue their participation in public and political life as they journey into higher education and work life. The local winner’s application will be passed forward to compete at Zonta’s regional and district levels for possible additional honors and awards.

“We are looking for a young woman with an active commitment to volunteerism; experience in local government, student government, or workplace leadership; and achievements in volunteer leadership” said Zontian Nola Theiss, who heads the search committee.

The formal application is on the Zonta webbsite (scroll down to Useful Links and click on YWPA Award). Complete and mail with supporting documents no later than March 7 to:
