Since 2002, Zonta’s home tour “Peek at the Unique,” held annually in March, has raised funds to support area non-profits whose work seeks to empower women and girls. Every year, proceeds have grown, and in the past 19 year Zonta has given out over $1 million in grants, culminating in $140,000 from the 2019 event, distributed in January, 2020.

After regretfully cancelling the 2020 “Peek” just days before it was to take place, Zonta is now working on a re-imagined and socially-distanced event for March 2021, while anticipating that the traditional guided tour will return for 2022.

According to fundraising co-chair Judy Langley: “For the coming year, we want to ensure that we keep ‘Peek’ interest alive and provide a unique experience that will offer islanders and visitors the opportunity to support Zonta’s work.”

Mark the calendar for Saturday, March 13, 2021, for a pandemic-observant event which will take place largely online. It will feature a virtual auction of an eclectic and exciting exhibit of re-imagined and traditional furniture and artworks from local artists; in-person appointments with local experts for informal appraisals on antiques, jewelry and collectibles in the style of “Antiques Roadshow”; and opportunities to win prizes.

As always, all proceeds will be awarded in grants through the Zonta Foundation of Southwest Florida to organizations whose mission of empowerment mirrors Zonta’s own.
