Bicyclist Injured in Crash With Vehicle; Man Injured In Single Scooter Crash

A bicyclist was injured last weekend after his bicycle struck a vehicle.

Kyle Finney of Fort Myers was riding his bicycle east on the Shared Use Path along Casa Ybel Road at 2:46 p.m. Saturday, March 27, when he crossed at Middle Gulf Drive and struck a vehicle operated by Clive Dickens of Fort Myers.

Finney fell off his bicycle and was transported by Lee County EMS for treatment. Police determined Finney was at fault based on statements at the scene.

A man was injured in a single scooter crash last week. A witness told police Albert Lobbato of Sanibel was traveling south on Middle Gulf Drive at 3:56 p.m. Friday, March 26, when his scooter veered from the roadway. He over-corrected and was flipped over the handlebars causing him to strike his head on the roadway.

Lobbato had visible injuries and was incoherent when police arrived on the scene, according to the report. Lee County EMS transported him for treatment of his injuries.

James Gillis of Fort Myers was traveling on Periwinkle Way when the back of his vehicle was struck near the Donax Road intersection by a vehicle operated by Chrismond Laplante of Fort Myers.
