The Charitable Foundation of the Islands is continuing its commitment to strengthening the island community by bringing the Florida Gulf Coast University AIN Hub Design & Technology Team to Sanibel for a hands-on artificial intelligence workshop designed for nonprofits, small businesses, and community members.
The workshop will be held on Monday, July 20, from 8 to 10 a.m., with an optional AI Deep Dive from 10 to 11 a.m. for attendees who would like personalized assistance with specific AI questions, projects, or challenges.
The event will take place at the Sanibel & Captiva Islands Association of REALTORS®, 2353 Periwinkle Way, Suite 201, Sanibel.
This workshop is the first in a four-part AI education series that CFI is bringing to the islands in partnership with the FGCU AIN Hub Design & Technology Team. Throughout the series, participants will explore practical ways to integrate AI into their daily work, including improving productivity, streamlining operations, enhancing communications, and leveraging emerging technologies that can help organizations, businesses, and nonprofits better serve their audiences. The optional Deep Dive session will provide one-on-one guidance and troubleshooting for those looking to apply AI to their unique needs.
The workshop is made possible through CFI’s Community Impact Fund, which invests in innovative programs and partnerships that strengthen the long-term resilience and quality of life of the Sanibel and Captiva communities. The Community Impact Fund supports initiatives that build nonprofit capacity, develop community leadership, foster collaboration, and address emerging community needs. By bringing cutting-edge educational opportunities like AI training to the islands, the fund helps ensure local organizations, businesses, and residents have access to the tools and resources needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.
CFI extends its heartfelt gratitude to the generous donors who support the Community Impact Fund. Their philanthropic investment makes initiatives like this possible, empowering local nonprofits, businesses, and community members with valuable educational opportunities while helping build a stronger, more connected, and more resilient Sanibel and Captiva.
“Artificial intelligence is transforming the way we work, communicate, and solve problems,” said Savannah Kelly, Director of Community Engagement at the Charitable Foundation of the Islands. “We’re excited to launch the first of four AI training sessions for our island community through the Community Impact Fund. Our goal is to make these powerful tools approachable and practical, giving nonprofits, businesses, and community members the knowledge and confidence to use AI to save time, improve efficiency, and increase their impact.”
The workshop is open to nonprofit professionals, business owners, volunteers, community leaders, and anyone interested in learning more about AI. Whether attendees are just getting started or already experimenting with AI, the program is designed to provide valuable insights and practical takeaways.
