The committee for Play for P.I.N.K. at The Dunes is pleased to announce Doc Ford’s Rum Bar and Grille is a corporate sponsor for the annual charity golf tournament on Saturday, March 26 at The Dunes, 949 Sand Castle Rd.

In 2021, the sponsorships, golf tournament, Challenge Fund, and virtual auction raised more than $47,000 which was sent to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Thanks to the underwriting by The Estee Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Campaign, 100 percent of the funds raised go directly to breast cancer research. The BCRF is the highest rated breast cancer charity in the U.S.

One-hundred-twenty-eight golfers will tee-off at 8:30 a.m. Players will purchase mulligans, raffle tickets, paythe-pro tickets and participate in putting and closest-to-the-line contests. Prizes will be awarded to the first place men’s, ladies, and mixed teams. New for 2022 is the Helicopter Ball Drop. Chances, registration and sponsorships/donations can be purchased online.

In addition to the golf tournament and luncheon is a virtual auction which will go public the week leading leading up to the golf tournament. The virtual auction items can be previewed online starting Saturday, March 19. Bidding goes live at noon on
March 23 and will close at 6 plm. on the day of the tournament, March 26. Winning bidders will pick up their items at The Dunes on Monday, March 28.

Doc Ford’s is a favorite destination for locals and tourists alike … “it’s where the locals hang out.” Marty and Brenda Harrity, with Mark Marinello, opened the first Doc Ford’s Rum Bar and Grille in 2003. That first location was on Rabbit Road and has since relocated to a new home on Tarpon Bay Road across from the Bailey’s Shopping Center. Eventually three more locations were established on Captiva Island, Fort Myers Beach and the most recent Doc Ford’s opened in July 2020 at The Pier in St. Petersburg.
