Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee. The Sanibel City Council appointed seven residents to the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee. They are: Matt Chesser to a full term; Angi Welch to a full term; Jane Winslow to a partial term expiring September 8, 2028; and Richard Birney to a partial term expiring September 10, 2027.
Definitions. Council unanimously agreed on the following definition: An attraction is a land use that generates significant daily and overall traffic from off-island locations. An amenity is a land use that serves on-island demand for short-term residents, long-term residents, and on-island guests, and is not expected to substantially increase traffic from off-island trips.
Council Member Holly Smith. Mayor Mike Miller introduced a video honoring Sanibel Council Member Holly Smith, 2025-2026 Florida League of Cities President, for a year of leadership and connection.
