Pine Island Sounds Is Sailing Again

Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation, in partnership with Todd and Leanne Marcum and Captiva Cruises, is thrilled to announce the second season of Pine Island Sounds, its signature series of onboard fundraising concerts. Pine Island Sounds brings world class musicians to the Sanibel-Captiva audience for incredibly intimate performances aboard the Lady Chadwick, Captiva Cruises’ 65-foot open air tour boat.

Pine Island Sounds had a successful first season in 2019/2020, and was one of our last, in person events before the world changed. This successful fundraising effort brought in $20,000 to support SCCF’s water quality efforts and plans are underway to raise even more this season. Net proceeds benefit all of SCCF and Sanibel Sea School’s water quality research and education efforts, raised while sailing on the actual waters we are working to preserve.

The cruise begins by boarding at McCarthy’s Marina on Captiva Island where guests will be treated with an included, individually boxed, appetizer selection and an initial complimentary cocktail included in the $100 ticket price. Guests will be able to purchase additional drinks from the bar throughout their time onboard.

Each cruise features a carefully curated artist, from a variety of musical genres, who will begin entertaining shortly after the boat departs. Music will ring out across the water as we take in the sights and enjoy the abundant wildlife of Pine Island Sound. After cruising and vibing for approximately two hours, the Lady Chadwick will put us in a prime sunset viewing area to catch the elusive “green flash” as the performing artist “plays” the sun below the horizon. This is a truly magical experience that you will want to enjoy over and over. A short sail back to the dock put’s you back on solid ground just in time for dinner.

A sunset cruise with world class musicians playing for 100 guests aboard Captiva Cruises’ Lady Chadwick is an experience all its own. The fact that all proceeds go directly to support the crucial work of SCCF and Sanibel Sea School to protect and care for Southwest Florida’s coastal ecosystems only makes the experience more worthwhile. We can’t wait to see you out there!
