Sanibel Police was called to the scene of a domestic dispute on Thursday, May 28, in the parking lot of VIP Realty Group, 1560 Periwinkle Way. The victim and 57-year-old Rafael Boluda had paperwork notarized at the business, and an argument over it turned physical.
The two were seated in a parked vehicle when the victim confronted Boluda over “mistakes” in the papers they had signed, according to the police report. The victim allegedly held the papers out of the window away from Boluda as they argued. The dispute escalated and the victim attempted to exit the vehicle.
Boluda allegedly grabbed the victim’s buckled seat belt and shirt to keep her from leaving. He also scratched her right arm, according to the report. The victim yelled for help and was able to exit the vehicle as patrons from the business, who heard her screaming, came out to the parking lot. Boluda told police he wanted the papers to make copies because he thought the victim would alter them.
Police determined Boluda had forcibly restrained the victim when he prevented her from leaving the vehicle and intentionally scratched the victim. Therefore, Boluda of Davie, Fla., was charged with battery and false imprisonment of an adult. He was released from the Lee County Jail Friday, May 29, on a $5,000 bond.
