Police Respond to Several Minor Vehicle Crashes

Petko Peev, 74, Philadelphia, Pa., was traveling east on Sanibel Captiva Road at 2:13 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, when he pulled off to the side of the road. As Peev was merging into traffic, his vehicle sideswiped an eastbound vehicle operated by John McVey, 65, Fort Myers. No injuries were reported. Peev was cited for failing to yield the right-of-way.

Police responded to a three-vehicle crash at 5:12 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13 on Causeway Boulevard. Wayne Potter, 72, Elida, Ohio, was traveling south when he slowed for traffic and the back of his vehicle was struck by a vehicle operated by Thomas Veilleux, 64, Arnold, Md., because the back of Veilleux’s vehicle was struck by a vehicle operated by Franklin Walters, 78, Guthrie, Okla. Walters told police he thought his vehicle’s hood was not latched and was unable to stop in time. No injuries were reported.

Miguel Rivera, 63, Fairborn, Ohio, was traveling on Periwinkle Way at 5:16 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, when the back of his vehicle’s bicycle trailer was struck by a vehicle operated by Bill Erickson, 78, Punta Gorda, Fla. No injuries were reported.

Shirley Hamilton-Williams, 73, Bolton, Ma., was traveling west on Periwinkle Way at 5:02 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, when she stopped for traffic near Paper Fig Court and the back of her vehicle was struck by a vehicle operated by Ralph Harlow, 58, Fort Myers.

Robert Post, 53, North Fort Myers, was traveling on McGregor Boulevard south of the toll plaza at 8:46 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, when the right side of his vehicle was struck by a vehicle operated by Christopher Schaffner, 31, Cape Coral. No injuries were reported.
