Grace Murphy, Communications & Development Director at the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) on Sanibel Island, holds a juvenile grouper she caught during a Preserving Paradise Leadership class outing on Sept. 17. Participants learned how water quality affects Southwest Florida’s fisheries and fishing industry while catching species including spotted seatrout, lizardfish, catfish, and mangrove snapper. Participants released all of the fish. Preserving Paradise brings together Southwest Florida business leaders to learn about the connection between clean water, the region’s economy, and its ecological future.
