The Progressive Club of the Islands is privileged to hear Florida State Representative Anna Eskamani at 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17 on Zoom and Facebook. She will discuss the topic: “What’s Next for Florida Progressives in the Legislature, at the Grassroots, and in the 2022 Elections?”
Born and raised in Orlando, Representative V. Eskamani is the daughter of working-class immigrants. She was first elected to serve District 47 in the Florida House in 20l8, and overwhelmingly re-elected this year. Authentic, vocal, and effective, she is a widely recognized champion of LGBTQ equality, the environment, affordable housing, increased access to healthcare, and public education.
As a self-described bridge builder, Representative Eskamani has constructed an ambitious legislative agenda, sponsoring or co-sponsoring dozens of bills aimed at making the system work for everyone. She sees her role as that of an advocate for all Floridians, and is fearless in holding politicians of both parties accountable to those they represent. She supports civil discussion and building consensus across party lines. Representative Eskamani’s work and success have become increasingly well known and respected throughout Florida, as well as garnering national attention. The long list of her endorsees include President Barack Obama. This is an interactive meeting providing time for your questions.
