Residents to See Increase in Waste Collection Fees

Annually, the City of Sanibel levies a special assessment on residents for the collection of solid waste and horticulture. WM of Fort Myers, the City’s contracted solid waste contractor, has requested a 3.84 percent rate increase in residential collections for fiscal year 2027, as permitted by the agreement with the City. Based on the information presented, an increase of 2.44 percent in residential general curbside collection and a 2.69 percent increase in house collection (backdoor) is recommended for fiscal year 2027.
