The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company Speaker Series continues Wednesday, March 13 with a discussion led by Louis P. Masur, Board of Governors, Distinguished Professor of American Studies and History at Rutgers University.
“Lessons of Abe Lincoln: How Effective Leadership Can Change the World” is a timely topic given global volatility amidst an election year in the U.S. Masur will share reflections of Lincoln’s leadership in overcoming difficult times and how his skills brought the nation through four years of war, including his ability to listen to opposing viewpoints and change his mind.
Masur will apply lessons of Lincoln’s leadership to the management of current conflicts and how individuals can become more effective leaders in the workplace and community.
Masur is a cultural historian and author taking an interdisciplinary approach to the study of American culture. His essays and reviews have appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, CNN and Slate.
The Speaker Series event begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 13 at Tribby Arts Center – Shell Point. A continental breakfast will begin at 9:30 a.m.
