The first meeting of the Sanibel-Captiva Catholic Women was held Thursday, Nov. 21, at Sanibel Arms West. The guest speaker, Carlton A. Cleveland, spoke on Immokalee Fair Housing. Cleveland’s message was the significance of quality housing for farmworker’s families and how when children are in safe homes they are happier, healthier, and perform better in school. Following his presentation the newly formed organization raised $4,600 to donate to IFH. Sanibel-Captiva Catholic Women are not affiliated with St. Isabel Parish or the Diocese of Venice. The next meeting is Thursday, Dec. 5 at Sanibel Arms West. For further information contact Dottie McGovern at 239-481-5950
