Sanibel Fire District Responds To 74 Calls In January

The Sanibel Fire & Rescue District responded to a total of 74 calls in January. A kitchen fire on Jan. 4 was contained to the home’s oven. No damage or injuries were reported. Firefighters also responded to a vehicle fire, natural vegetation fire and a rubbish fire last month.

The remaining calls include:
• Medical related, including EMS: 33
• Spills or leaks: 4
• Electrical problem: 1
• Water-related rescue: 1
• Service call: 1
• Public service assistance: 4
• Canceled en route: 11
• Steam or gas mistaken for smoke: 1
• False alarm: 4
• Unintentional alarm: 9
