Two people were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Saturday, Jan. 29, after the back of their vehicle was struck on Periwinkle Way.
Christopher Artrup of St. George, Utah was stopped in the westbound lane waiting to make a left turn into the parking lot of 2406 Periwinkle Way, when the back of his vehicle was struck by a vehicle operated by Robert Hilliard of Sanibel.
Artrup and his passenger Sarah Gallup were transported to Lee Health. Hilliard was evaluated at the scene by Lee County EMS. Hilliard was issued a citation for careless driving.
Lori Hoffman of College Station, Texas was stopped for traffic Sunday, Jan. 30 near 1223 Periwinkle Way, when the back of her vehicle was struck by a vehicle operated by Joseph Sickler of Cape Coral. No injuries were reported. Sickler was issued a citation for following too closely.
A minor vehicle crash Wednesday, Feb. 2, in the eastbound lane near 1975 Periwinkle Way resulted in two men arguing in the parking lot. The police report stated Charles Davaro of Ardmore, Pa., wanted the crash documented due to the “alleged poor attitude” of Kenneth Smith, Cape Coral.
Davaro “attempted to instigate an argument with Smith,” the report said, but the responding officer separated the two men before a physical altercation occurred. The officer reported Davaro “had a poor attitude during the entire investigation.”
Carolos Garcia of Lehigh Acres was issued a citation for careless driving Thursday, Feb. 3, after backing into a mailbox in the 600 block of Birdie View Point in the Beachview neighborhood.
Animal Reports
A deceased bobcat was reported Friday, Jan. 28 on the beach near 452 Lighthouse Way. It was removed by the Department of Public Works.
A cold-stunned iguana was reported Sunday, Jan. 30 at a residence on East Gulf Drive.
Two non-aggressive coyotes were reported Tuesday, Feb. 1 in the area of Pond Apple Trail.
Four coyotes were reported Tuesday, Feb. 1 in the area of Limpet Drive and Periwinkle Way. They appeared non-aggressive.
An iguana was reported Wednesday, Feb. 3 in the backyard of a residence on West Gulf Drive.
An injured raccoon was reported Wednesday, Feb. 3 on Twin Lakes Lane in the Lake Murex neighborhood. While the officer was en route, the raccoon passed away.
An injured pelican was reported Wednesday, Feb. 3 on the porch of a residence on Pyrula Avenue. It was transported to the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife for treatment.
