The total number of COVID-19 cases since March is at 77 on Sanibel, according to the Florida Data and Surveillance Dashboard on Nov. 18. That is up by nine in the past seven days. Sanibel’s Acting Mayor Mick Denham has extended the declared local state of emergency through Nov. 24, which includes the mandate on face coverings while indoors at public places. The city is also encouraging social distancing and avoiding group gatherings to prevent further spread of the virus.
