I am writing to endorse Mike Miller for Sanibel City Council. I have known Mike for 20 years since he retired as VP and Treasurer of Owens-Corning in Toledo, Ohio, and moved to Sanibel. Soon after he moved and established his Elder Law Practice, I became aware of the many hours he spent using his expertise to do pro bono work for older people who needed his help.
His extensive financial background as financial executive and CPA with nationally recognized companies, has been well known, making him eminently qualified to help direct the financial future of Sanibel. In addition, he has been an integral part of the community as President of COTI, as President of the Bicycle Club, and serving on the Parks and Recreation Committee. What is not as well known, is that for five years he worked with the Bicycle Club on New Year’s Eve with BINGO to raise money to send needy kids to camp.
I have worked with Mike on the community effort TOGETHER-A WAY FORWARD, to bring our churches and greater community to embrace a sacred commitment to preserving and protecting our environment. And Mike has pulled us into the Shared Scholar program initiated by Rev. Dr. John Danner, resulting in a wonderful outreach by six of the faith communities, including the Congregational United Church of Christ, St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, Bat Yam, the Christian Science Church, the Community Church, and Chapel by the Sea.
Mike has exceptional intelligence and expertise in many areas, all of which will strengthen and protect our community, but his generosity, kindness, and modesty, his need to jump in and help whatever cause is worthwhile, makes him uniquely suited to help lead Sanibel into the future.
